Brook Hill student withdrawn from school after gun incident

Posted: Updated:

BULLARD (KYTX) - A student of The Brook Hill School in Bullard was recently withdrawn from the school, by his parents, after administrators found a deer rifle in his truck, on campus.

The student reportedly drove to campus Thursday with the rifle after school hours. It is not believed that the student meant to harm anyone at the school. No ammunition was found, and the rifle was never taken from the truck, school officials said.

School Headmaster Rod Fletcher said he was pleased with the response of local authorities to ensure the safety of everyone involved. He said the student's parents also assisted.

Deer season opened earlier this month in Texas, and hunters are encouraged to use caution and common sense with weapons at all times to avoid incidents.
