Tyler ordinances set for selling beer, wine

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) -  Tyler City Council members approved all beer and wine sales zoning ordinances Tuesday.

Regulations are now in place for ordinances like restricting beer barns to the general industrial areas of Tyler, regulating how far beer and wine stores must be from schools, churches, and hospitals, and sign requirements.

City Planner Heather Nick said it was crucial these ordinances get approved before the votes are canvassed next Monday. "To pass the ordinances today is to help us be prepared for once the votes are canvassed so it helps to know what the process is going to be and ensure that we try and make it as smooth as possible and that we address any citizen concerns."

"They've asked all the right questions," added Sgt. Marcus Stokke with the TABC. "We've looked at a number of things and made sure the ordinances were exactly needed to be best for Tyler. They've done their homework and I think Tyler's ready to go following this meeting."
