UPDATE: Woman shot at Austin Bank identified

(KYTX) - On 11-16-12 at approximately 5:30 PM a shooting took place at Austin Bank Drive-in at 100 Commerce Street.

A bank patron was preparing to make a deposit when the shooting occurred.

The victim was shot without provocation or warning by the suspect. The female victim was transported by ambulance to ETMC Jacksonville. There was only person injured in the shooting.

The 66 year old female victim was then flown to a Tyler hospital. Numerous eye witnesses have provided a description of a suspect described a black male wearing a red jacket. Detectives are preparing a photo lineup for viewing by the various witnesses to positively identify the shooter.

In addition, detectives will be reviewing video from Austin Bank and other surrounding businesses. Detectives are also actively following up on information provided by eye witnesses and the public thus far in the investigation. Detectives anticipate the arrest of suspects in this case in the near future.

This shooting is being investigated by the Jacksonville Police Department, Tyler FBI Office and the East Texas Safe Streets Gang Taskforce.

The FBI and Cherokee County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and the conviction of the suspects. If anybody has information concerning this investigation they are asked to contact local law enforcement at the following phone numbers: Jacksonville PD 903-586-2546 or the Tyler FBI Office at 903-592-4301.

Business owners should be especially vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activity to the Jacksonville Police Department immediately!

 


(KYTX) - A woman attempting to deposit money at Austin Bank in Jacksonville was shot late Friday afternoon, according to City Manager Mo Raissi.

Raissi said a woman was shot in the shoulder and taken to ETMC in Jacksonville where she was going to be transported to a Tyler hospital.

The woman shot has been identified as Louise Barnett, 66, of Jacksonville. Barnett is a business owner.

The bank is located at Commerce and South Main Street.

The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash, officials said. 

Police describe the robber as a muscular black man with a short haircut and a red hoodie.
