Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - High levels of air pollution may decrease brain function for some older adults. Researchers at the University of Southern California studied about 15 thousand people 50 or older. They found seniors living in areas with unhealthy air tested lower for cognitive functions including word recall, knowledge and language.

(CBS) - An international team of doctors has identified two genetic factors associated with the skull closing early in infants. Children with the birth defect can have abnormally shaped heads and have neurological and visual problems. Researchers say the next step is to develop a blood test to pinpoint those genetic faults in expectant mothers.

(CBS) - New research shows a possible link between certain jobs and breast cancer. Doctors in Canada say some women are exposed to carcinogens and chemicals at work that increase their risk for breast cancer. Some of those jobs include food canning, plastic manufacturing and metal work.
