LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Authorities needed less than a half-hour to plus a gas leak in South Longview this morning.

The leak occurred when a trailer backed over a gas meeting at 2603 Fourteenth Street at about 7:30 a.m., Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said. Longview firefighters evacuated about five homes in the area. The leak was plugged by about 8 a.m., and residents were allowed to return home, Zackary said.

"There was no immediate threat to any of the homes," Zackary said.
