Texas Secretary of State steps down after 4 years

AUSTIN (KYTX) - Secretary of State Hope Andrade submitted a resignation letter to Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday, according to Texas officials.

Andrade served as the chief elections official in Texas for the past four years and was the fourth-longest secretary of state in Texas history, officials reported.

She was the first Hispanic woman to hold the office. Her last day is set for Friday. According to officials, Andrade felt is was time after the latest national elections.
