Before you know it, fall will be here and it will be time to go back to school.  For parents that means stocking up on notebooks, number two pencils, and back to school clothes, all of which usually take a big chunk out of a family's budget.  So, just how much do parents will pay to send their kids off to school this year?More >>

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler airport manager Davis Dickson says about 150,000 passengers come through this airport every year- many of them during Thanksgiving. He says employees have a holiday routine in place to help things run smoothly, but there are also ways you can help ease stress at the airport.

Robert Burch flew all the way into Tyler from Kuwait, where he works, to be with his family for Thanksgiving.

"I'm scanning for them as soon as I get off the airplane, getting my hugs and kisses."

He says by flying Tuesday he beat the airport rush.

"I'm thinking by tomorrow [Wednesday], the day after, it'll be crazy." says Burch.

"I noticed this morning that all the flights were fully-booked." says airport manager Davis Dickson. "And, I've talked to the airlines and they're all heavily loaded today, and especially for tomorrow [Wednesday]."

Dickson says his team is ready for all the travelers.

"Just making sure we're adequately staffed so all problems can be handled, if there are any problems. And, we don't expect any."

Dickson says arriving one hour before flight time and packing light, and packing smart will help these security lines keep moving.

Dickson says that requires some planning ahead.

"It helps too when customers have their liquids and gels packed in their quart-size plastic bags. It just makes things go faster. And, just one bag per carry on." he says.

Dickson says following these rules will help airport procedures run smoother.

"I think a lot of people are here to enjoy family."

And, after 23 hours of flying, Burch says seeing his family makes all the traveling worth it.

Dickson says, so far, there haven't been any flight delays, but all of them are full. He says this morning people were on standby waiting to get flights- making it even more important to arrive early.
