UNT campus on alert after alleged sexual assault

Posted: Updated:

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) – The University of North Texas is under a campus-wide alert after a male student claims he was sexually assaulted on Tuesday evening.

The man tells police he was out walking around 7 p.m. last night when a car pulled up alongside him and the driver asked for directions.

"The victim reported that, while he was walking in a service drive on the east side edge of our campus, he willing got into a car after attempting to provide directions and was immediately accosted," said Kelly Reese with UNT Police.

The student claims he was blind-folded at knife-point and taken to a remote area where he was sexually assaulted.

The suspected driver is described as being a white male in his early 20s, 6-foot-tall with a muscular build, having short brown hair, and is cleanly shaven.

The passenger is described as being a Hispanic man in his early 20s, standing 5-foot-6 with a stalky build, and a very dark faux mohawk.

The perpetrators are believed to have driven an older, blue, four-door sedan.

Reese encourages students to be careful at all times on and off campus.

"We encourage our students to always be very aware of good personal safety tips. To always walk in numbers, to make sure they have informed their family and friends of where they are at and where they are going."
