Police investigate robberies in Nacogdoches, Lufkin

NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - Nacogdoches police are investigating two aggravated robberies that occurred Sunday night.

While, Lufkin Police Department officials are investigating a robbery early Monday morning in the 2100 block of S. First Street.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, Nacogdoches PD responded to a call regarding a robbery at a convenient store in the 1000 block of East Main and University Dr.

The officers were told that two black males entered the store and during the transaction one of the men pulled a gun from his jacket and demanded the clerk to give them money from the register. 

They escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

The second robbery happened in the 3800 block of South Street around 11:40 p.m. Sunday when two black males entered the Holiday Inn Express and displayed a handgun to the clerk demanding money. 

The suspects then took an undetermined amount of cash from the drawer.

The suspects in the Holiday Inn robbery were also spotted at another store. No robbery occurred at this location, they were caught on camera.

 In Lufkin, about 5 a.m. Monday, an employee of a business on First Street said two people entered the business and demanded money from the cash register using a handgun.

The employee complied, and the two suspects fled the scene, according to a release from Lufkin Police Department.

One of the suspects was described as a black man wearing a light-colored jacket, blue jeans and a baseball-style cap.

Lufkin Detective J.B. Smith said he cannot determine if the Lufkin robbery is connected to the two in Nacogdoches because he has not viewed any video or photos of the Lufkin suspects.

It is possible that these two robberies are related. If you recognize the suspects in these photos, call CRIME STOPPERS at 560-INFO (4636).
