Update: Suspect in Hyena Clubhouse shooting surrenders

Tyler, TX (KYTX) -- Marquel Jermon Scott, 32, of Tyler surrendered to Tyler police officials about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Scott was wanted for one count of homicide and one count of aggravated assault in a shooting earlier this week at a Tyler nightclub.

The shooting happened in the Hyena Clubhouse in a North Tyler neighborhood. Since the establishment doesn't serve alcohol, it can legally stay open later.

Shots rang out around 2:30 a.m. "Apparently some altercation did occur in the club, we don't know for what reason, and a gun was pulled and shots were fired," Officer Don Martin, with Tyler Police, said.

Those shots struck two men, and one died at the hospital. He's Keeston Fields, 26, of Tyler. According to his Facebook page, Fields studied at Tyler Junior College.

Investigators are now trying to figure out a motive. "There were about 20 to 30 subjects inside the club," Martin said.

And those witnesses aren't opening up much. "It's just a matter of time. With all those people there, someone knows something," Martin said. 

The other victim is John T Woods, 33, and he's listed in critical condition at the hospital.
