Children Are A Gift: William

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) – If it has four wheels and goes fast, this teenager wants a ride.

William likes sports cars, especially Corvettes and Camaros.

While sitting in a black Camaro I asked him, "Do you know the speed limit?" He replied with a slight smile, "You have to look at the signs."

William was in awe walking around the Peliter Dealership in Tyler and getting to ride in some pretty fancy cars. This 13-year-old soaks up everything around him and likes adventure.

"[He likes] really anything outdoors. He'll take apart bicycles and put them into one. He's very crafty, loves to do arts and crafts. Anything like that he's right there," explained Mike Walker, his caseworker from Azleway Boys Ranch in Smith County.

William adds, "I can make stuff out of pretty much anything."

This teenager wears his emotions on his sleeve and is very caring. Walker said, "Extremely soft-hearted. He's a very loving, loving child. He stands out above others really in that area especially."

"I'm very good with babies. I can make them go to sleep. I can take care of them, feed them and change them," said William.

He has spent the past two years in foster care. "He wants a home. He loves it at Azleway, but he wants something more. He's just ready."

"I just don't know if they can find someone who wants to adopt me," said William looking away.

He tries to stay strong while he waits. In the meantime, he's focusing on the 7th-grade. "The only reason I keep myself going is because I need to get an education."

A forever family would give William the encouragement he needs to reach his dreams.
