Fatal stabbing under investigation in Commerce

COMMERCE, TX (KYTX) - Commerce Police are investigating a homicide after 20-year-old Jamal Stanton of Greenville man died from stab wounds at a Hunt County hospital.

Commerce Police Department told CBS 19 they received a call about a stabbing victim brought into the ER a little after midnight.

Commerce Police said before the call from Hunt Regional Community Hospital, another call came into Commerce PD dispatch about a fight in the Cul-de-sac at Tarter apartments.   Investigators determined the two calls are related.

A person of interest in the case has been detained. Investigators with Commerce PD and the Texas Rangers were called in to investigate this death.
