Parker County Man Accused Of Beating Mom With Hammer

Posted: Updated:

PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Deputies with the Parker County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man they say attacked his mother and beat her in the head with a hammer.

Jacob Dwight Farren was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member.

According to Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, Farren's 54-year-old mother called 911 around 7 p.m. Tuesday night, from the town of Cresson about 14 miles southwest from Benbrook.

The woman told authorities her son had assaulted her after an argument and then taken her vehicle. The victim said Farren had hit her in the head and upper body with the hammer and also tried to gouge her eyes out.

The woman was treated at a Fort Worth hospital for lacerations, scrapes and bruises and released.

Deputies found Farren, 30, just before 2 a.m. Wednesday and took him into custody without incident. He was in the victim's vehicle, where a hammer was also found.

Farren remains in the Parker County Jail with his bond set at $75,000.
