Health Alert: Fewer deaths from strokes

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - Fewer people die from strokes in areas with more doctors who specialize in neurology and neurosurgery. New research in the Journal of Neurosurgery looked at data on more than three thousand counties in the U.S. It found more neurologists and neurosurgeons were associated with fewer deaths from stroke.

(CBS) - Obese children could be more vulnerable to food advertising. Researchers found when looking at food logos, obese children had more activity in the areas of the brain involving reward. The new study in the Journal of Pediatrics looked at the brain scans of 10 healthy weight kids and 10 obese kids.

(CBS) - Vigorous exercise is good for you, but some cardiologists say too much could be a bad thing. A warning published in the journal "Heart" says it's best to limit vigorous exercise to 30 to 50 minutes a day. Researchers say the idea that more high intensity workouts is beneficial is a myth and that evidence shows it can do more harm than good to your heart.
