TYLER (KYTX) -- If you're looking to give a kid a serious gift for Christmas, why not help out Habitat for Humanity at the same time?
Robert E. Lee architecture and construction students spent most of this semester building four playhouses. They used donated materials and some special help from the professionals at Fitzpatrick Architects.
The houses, each with a different theme, were unveiled Thursday morning at the Fresh by Brookshire's store in Tyler. Now they're being auctioned online, and all of the money raised will go to Habitat for Humanity.
"We actually had a woman come up and say how thankful she was just because of the charity in general and it feels really good to actually help kids, or anyone," Robert E. Lee senior Shawn Lawrence said.
The homes were sponsored by RPR Construction, WRL Construction, Garrett and Associates General Construction and HGR Construction and Cassidy Jones.
The houses are on display at Fresh until the auction ends Monday, December 17 at 5 p.m.
