(CNN) - Some big names from music, movies and television were in the nation's capital last night for the annual Kennedy Center Honors celebration. Actor and attendee Morgan Freeman made an entrance on the red carpet. Actor Dustin Hoffman, guitarist Buddy Guy and longtime late-night comedian David Letterman are among this year's honorees. Rock group Led Zeppelin and ballerina Natalia Makarova are also being recognized for their achievements in the arts. President Obama praised each of the recipients at a White House reception. Afterwards, the President and First Lady joined attendees at the Kennedy Center Performing Arts space. The ceremony will air later this month on CBS.

The film took in about $17.5 million dollars, bringing its total haul in the US to more than $254-million dollars. James Bond is also a crowd favorite. "Skyfall" took in $17-million dollars in ticket sales, making it number two this weekend. "Lincoln" rounded out the top three, bringing in more than 13-and-a-half million dollars.

(CNN) - The second time may be the charm for Hugh Hefner and his girlfriend who are reportedly ready to say "I Do". TMZ.com reports that Hefner is engaged to Crystal Harris, and that they will get married at the Playboy Mansion on New Year's Eve. The couple was engaged before, until Harris called the wedding off last June, less than a week before the big day.
