LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A Longview transient is in the Gregg County Jail on $250,000 bond, after authorities say he set another man on fire.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the county's Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace office, Longview police were called with emergency medical service personnel to a residence in the 1200 block of Alpine Road on Saturday night. A man named Donnie Mayo said his friend, Raymond Hellwig, was set on fire by 32-year-old Jeremy Kellum. The complaint says Mayo told officers he saw Kellum pour lighter fluid on Hellwig's pant legs and set them on fire before Kellum ran east into a wooded area. Mayo said Hellwig and Kellum had gotten into an argument earlier that night, and Kellum threatened to burn down the residence.

Hellwig was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with second degree burns, but was later transported to Parkland Hospital Burn Unit in Dallas, according to the complaint.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, Longview police arrested Kellum at 5:35 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Eastman Road. This morning, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson set Kellum's bond at $250,000 for aggravated assault that caused serious bodily injury.
