Children Are A Gift: Daquala and Illiauana

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - Daquala and her sister Illiauana have their typical sibling rivalries, but couldn't imagine life without each other. These sisters have a strong bond.

"Daquala is very helpful when it comes to her little sister," said Tara Biggers, their caseworker with Child Protective Services.

They are placed together in foster care right now and want to keep it that way when they settle down in a forever family. "Cause she can take care of me," said Illiauana about her big sister. Daquala added, "Foster care has been kind of hard moving from different places."

Daquala is 14-years-old. She's friendly and enjoys being active."I like to play sports. I like volleyball, basketball and sometimes I like to read."

Biggers said, "This is Daquala's first year playing sports so she is enjoying that and meeting new friends and being part of a team."

Illiauana is 7-years-old. She enjoys playing with dolls and watching cartoons.

"I like to play outside and I like to have a lot of friends."

"Illiauana is quiet but is beginning to talk and come out of her shell," explained Biggers.

As they work to reach their potential, both have their sights set on college. "I want to be a Doctor when I grow up," said Illiauana. "I want to be a Corrections Officer because I want to help teenagers," added Daquala.

Both girls would benefit from a safe and stable home. Biggers said, "They are very bright. They just need the structure and someone who is going to care and love them and accept them for who they are and willing to work with them."
