Notre Dame de Namur University welcomed the first entering class of the new online Master of Science in Computer and Information Science (MSCIS) in September.
Belmont, California (PRWEB) December 10, 2012
Notre Dame de Namur University welcomed the first class of the new online Master of Science in Computer and Information Science (MSCIS) in September. Those students are now working their way toward earning a valuable degree in a growing field at a respected, traditional university—all without having to leave their homes.
Students in the first MSCIS class hail from as far away as Virginia and Maryland. Their backgrounds are varied: job titles include business owner, software engineer, systems administrator and lab technician. Each of them is taking advantage of a cutting-edge program designed to build their theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in developing and leading major software projects from conception to launch.
“Students learn advanced techniques from experienced practitioners and develop a portfolio that can give them an edge in today’s ever-changing technology market,” said Dr. John Lemmon, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Notre Dame de Namur University.
NDNU used its location near Silicon Valley, the heart of the U.S. software industry and a center for high-tech innovation, and its proximity to events, developments and experts in the field to create a valuable and compelling MSCIS program. NDNU is the only institution in the San Francisco Bay Area to offer an MSCIS entirely online, a format that complements the hectic schedules of busy adults and extends the university’s reach beyond its physical campus to students all over the country.
