SAN ANTONIO (CNN) - Wedding days are memorable for all kinds of reasons, but for one couple, the trip to the altar was more of a race against time.
Last Thursday, Lindsay and Ryan Miller said their "I Do's" in a hospital room in Houston. The two met and fell in love in their hometown in Kansas. Ryan proposed last year, but in September, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called "Ewing's Sarcoma" -- a massive tumor in his lung.
Last week, Ryan, Lindsay and his family came to MD Anderson hospital in search of a miracle. But with his condition so serious, the family had to confront the possibility the treatments might not work.
So, they made plans for a wedding. Nurses helped decorate the hospital room and a hospital chaplain performed the ceremony.
"Love never should wait. If you love somebody, be with them, no matter what it takes, and that was what me and Ryan did," says Newlywed Lindsay Miller.
The couple is also trying to raise money to offset medical bills. Ryan is said to be showing some improvement, but there is a long road ahead.
