VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - Five men believed to be responsible for several burglaries in Van Zandt County were arrested Wednesday morning by law enforcement agencies.

While on patrol at approximately 4 a.m., Deputy Prock of the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office observed two vehicles driving slowly on the service road of I-20 between the highways 17 and 1255.

Deputy Prock positioned himself to observe the vehicles and could not see them go through the intersection of I-20 and 17.  At this time Deputy Prock drove west in search of vehicles and saw the two vehicles sitting beside the road near a mini warehouse complex.

As Deputy approached the vehicles only one was occupied, he attempted to question the occupant of the vehicle.  The occupant fled on foot and several other persons fled on foot from the warehouse.

Deputy Prock called for assistance and Canton PD, Grand Saline PD, and Van PD arrived to assist.  With the assistance of the law enforcement agencies and the Department of Public Safety helicopter the manhunt ensued and eventually five suspects were apprehended.

Further investigation revealed that the office to the mini warehouse complex had been burglarized.  Based on recovered property from the vehicles and suspects, it is believed that they have committed several offenses in the area.

Suspects are from Terrell, Dallas, and Mesquite; no names are being released at this time pending arraignment.
