Update: Remains found at Shreveport facility belong to animal

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) - Shreveport Police have deemed the remains found at North Shreveport business to be the severed hand and foot of a primate.

After responding to a call at Riegel By-Products (Louisiana Proteins Inc.) in the 500 block of Fortson Street, KTBS 3 News has confirmed that what was alleged to be human remains are animal remains.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) - Police are investigating possible human remains found at a North Shreveport business.

KTBS 3 News confirmed with Cpl. Marcus Hines that they are taking a closer look of what appears to be a human hand and another body part at Riegel By-Products (Louisiana Proteins Inc.) in the 500 block of Fortson Street.  

The facility serves as a rendering plant, which converts waste animal tissue into stable, value-added materials.
