TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Stumbling out of a wooded area a Tyler woman flagged down a passing motorist and asked for help earlier this week.

Police say the woman had been beaten and sexually assaulted, by two men she said she doesn't know.
Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Don Martin said the reported sexual assault of the 30-year-old woman happened Tuesday about 5:30 p.m.

Martin said a passing motorist stopped for the woman and called for help, which brought EMS and police.

"She told us she was walking down Martin Luther King Boulevard when two Hispanic men in a green extended cab F150 pickup pulled up and forced her into the vehicle," he said.

Martin said the driver of the pickup drove to a wooded area off Old Longview Road about one mile outside Loop 323.

"They took her into the wooded area where she says they beat her with their fists and feet and sexually assaulted her before leaving her alone in the woods," he said.

Martin said the woman was transported by ambulance to Mother Frances Hospital where she was treated for multiple bruises and underwent a Sexual Assault Nurse Exam to collect any DNA evidence.

Martin said the woman was treated and released the same day from the hospital.

Martin said the woman described the male passenger of the pickup as being in his 30s or 40s, between 6 feet and 6-feet-2-inches tall, 250 to 280 pounds with a neatly trimmed moustache and wearing a light blue mechanic type shirt.

The driver was described as being smaller in build and having a moustache and beard, and also between 30 and 40 years old. He was also wearing glasses and a white baseball cap.

"Our officers have been given the information and they are looking for a vehicle matching that description," he said.

The case remains under investigation.
