SAN ANTONIO (CNN) - An off-duty police officer shot a man at a Texas movie theater.

It happened last night outside the Santikos Mayan Palace 14 in San Antonio. Authorities say it all started when the gunman got into a fight outside a restaurant not far from the theater. He then ran to the movie theater and fired his gun.

The Bexar county sheriff's office says an off-duty officer working as a security guard spotted the man and shot him. The gunman was taken to the hospital ... no word so far on his condition.
