East Texans power outages restored, Oncor spokesman says

TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH (KYTX) - Charles Hill, spokesman for Oncor, said as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, all of the power to its customers in East Texas was restored.

Thousands of East Texans are without power as snow falls over the area, and more are expected to be left in the cold.
 
Charles Hill, Oncor spokesman, said as of 4 p.m., wind from Monday night's storms and Tuesday's snow left about 1,500 customers in the Tyler area without power, including Jacksonville, Chandler, Bullard, Palestine, Whitehouse and Athens areas. Another 5,000 are without electricity in the Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas.

Hill said if the snow continues for any lengthy period of time it could cause tree limbs to break, and trouble for electricity lines.

"There is high potential for more people to be put if we don't get the wind and snow to stop pretty quick." Hill said.

John Adams, meteorologist with KYTX CBS 19, said he anticipates the snow falling for four to six hours, and it has potential to stick overnight – especially in northern areas of East Texas.

Hill said the company is responding to outages as they are reported, but at this point it is hard to tell how long it will take the company to restore power to all of its customers.

"It's so early in the storm, it's going to be hard to tell," he said.

Morris: 1,604

Titus: 4,095

Franklin: 105
