LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - From reporting something as small as a water leak to something as big as a fallen tree, CitySend is a smart phone app the City of Longview launched back in February of this year that lets people tell the city about various problems going on within the community. Since February, the city has received almost 900 request from residents using their CitySend smartphone app, exceeding the city's expectations.

And it's all thanks to technology...

"CitySend is a mobile and online app you can use from your computer or on your smartphone."

Giving those who live in the Longview community easy access to report various issue they feel the city needs to fix. It takes pressure off workers answering phones in city offices, and it lets people report issues 24 hours a day

"Say for instance there's a pot hole or any other kind of issue in the community, you can take a picture of that, send that in and it goes directly into our work management system."

For example, if you were driving down the street and you came across some graffiti, you would pull out your smart phone, take a picture, and your request will be sent to the City of Longview immediately through your CitySend app.

"And because you've got it right there in your hand you more likely to do something about it right now while its on your mind."

The City of Longview says since February it's top request have been:

  1. Potholes
  2. Bulky item pickup
  3. Traffic Signal issues
  4. High weeds or grass

"It allows you also to be able to track that later on so that you can see what took place with that issue you submitted."

All while keeping the people of the City of Longview involved and the workers, easily informed.

CitySend is a free app for those with Apple, Android , Blackberry or Windows devices.
