KPD targets drunk drivers for the New Year holiday

Posted: Updated:

KILGORE (KYTX) -- The Kilgore Police Department will be out in force this New Year's Eve targeting drunk drivers. Drivers who choose to drink and drive within the City of Kilgore will go to jail, police said.

The KPD maintains a zero tolerance policy in regards to DWI enforcement. Drunk driving is not a choice it's a crime.

This New Year's Eve has been declared a "no refusal" holiday. This means if you are stopped for drunk driving and refuse to provide a blood or breathe specimen, an immediate search warrant will be sought and a blood specimen obtained through the warrant.

Kilgore police are committed to lowering deaths and injuries resulting from drunk driving. The safety of citizens and the community is paramount.

The KPD wants everyone to have a safe and fun New Year's holiday.
