Local doctor disciplined by Texas State Medical Board

Posted: Updated:

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - The Texas State Medical Board disciplined a local doctor due to failure to meet the standard of care and not maintaining adequate medical records.

On November 30, the Medical Board entered a Final Order regarding Roderick Lee Mitchell, M.D. of Daingerfield, revoking his Texas medical license.

The Board also found Charles Louis Gougerousse, M.D. of Lufkin unable to practice medicine because of illness. Dr. Gougerousse and the Board entered into an Agreed Order of Voluntary Surrender in which Dr. Gougerousse agreed to immediately cease practice in Texas.

The Board and Kathleen Kelley Majors, M.D. of Shreveport, La., entered into an Agreed Order restricting Dr. Majors from practicing medicine in Texas until she completes all the terms of her July 2011 order entered by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

The Board found Dr. Majors was disciplined by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners for prescribing excessive amounts of controlled and dangerous substances for treatment of chronic pain in a manner not in compliance with Louisiana's chronic pain treatment rules.
