Losing weight still popular New Year's resolution

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Every year around this time people make up their minds about what *new changes they want to bring into the new year. "Lose some weight and live a little more healthier than what I have been."

Steve Falconer says getting back into shape is at the top of his priority list for 2013. He's already making changes in hopes of reaching his goal.

"I've joined a health club, going to start working out a little more and try to get a little more exercise."

A list on statisticbrain.com shows people's top 5 New Year's resolutions going into 2012

5.  Staying fit and healthy

4.  Enjoying life to the fullest

3 . Spending less, & saving more

2.  Getting organized

1.  Lose weight

Rachel Barr says losing weight and exercising isn't her issue, she already works out 5 days a week. Her new year's resolution is to eat healthier.

"Working out is pretty much 50/50. Working out is 50 percent and eating clean is 50 percent."

But, it's not always easy fighting the urge. Rachel says she'll take this year's challenge -- one day at a time.

"Baby steps ya know, set a mile marker don't make it sky high."

Marlon Hardeman isn't setting a new year's resolution for 2013, but he does have a word of advice for those who do.

"Don't set a goal that's impossible to achieve because you wont do anything but let yourself down."

It looks like things haven't changed much, year by year people still like to set that goal of shedding a few pounds and whipping into shape.
