Entertainment News: Record year at movie theaters

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - Looks like 2012 was a record year for movies! Americans apparently went to theaters in droves this past year, with nearly 11-billion bucks in ticket sales.  And that's pretty good, analysts say, in this age of video streaming on computer tablets and large screen HD televisions. One analyst thinks 2013 may be even better. A number of high-profile sequels are set to hit theaters, including Thor, Ironman, Superman, Star Trek and Hunger Games films.

(CNN) - Lady Gaga is looking out for her fans' mental health. The performer is offering free counseling during the pre-show of the upcoming leg of her "Born This Way Ball Tour". On her Facebook page, Gaga says the "Born Brave Bus" will be onsite offering fans access to professional counseling on issues such as mental health, depression and bullying. She says it will be a "fun tailgating experience for monsters to unite."

(CBS) - Green Day is heading back on the road. The Grammy winning band will start a new tour in March. The group was forced to take a break last fall while lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong battled substance abuse problems. The tour will begin in Chicago and include stops in New York and Toronto. The band said it will announce dates for shows on the west coast soon.
