SharePoint Solutions announced today that a public beta for the newest version of its Site Provisioning & Governance Assistant for SharePoint 2013 (SPGA) is now available for download.

SPGA, a software add-on that integrates seamlessly into SharePoint 2013, enables companies to completely automate the SharePoint site creation process. Every site is automatically created and configured according to pre-set stipulations, so that governance and uniformity are automatically enforced, and the site is fully provisioned for its intended purpose.

The product is ideally suited to organizations that have a need to create large numbers of SharePoint 2013 sites on a regular basis.

Administrators “bake” all the appropriate settings for different kinds of sites into Site Request Profiles. Users then select the appropriate Request Profile for the type of site they need and fill out a short request form, which sets into motion the provisioning process. Workflows automate the approval and provisioning of the site, resulting in every site being provisioned just the way administrators want it and users need it—uniformly and automatically.

Plante Moran, the nation’s 12th largest CPA and business advisory firm, estimates that by using the 2010 version of SPGA, it has so far saved more than $260,000 and about 3,500 man hours—not counting time saved creating customized My Site, Team and Project provisioning profiles.

Earlier this year, SharePoint Solutions developed an ROI calculator that enables executives to run their own numbers based on individual factors such as the average salary of their SharePoint site administrators and the number of hours per week spent handling SharePoint site requests versus the cost of the product.

“We want organizations to get a realistic idea of how much they could be saving through site creation automation,” notes Tony Bierman, managing director of SharePoint Solutions’ Software Division. “Then we encourage them to test the product, and see for themselves the difference automated site creation will make in their new SharePoint 2013 environment. This public beta will help them do just that.”
