Entertainment News: Lohan due in court today

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to be back in court today. She'll learn whether a prosecutor will pursue misdemeanor assault charges against Lohan. She's accused of punching a woman at a Manhattan nightclub back in November. After today's appearance at New York Criminal Court, Lohan will face a probation violation hearing in California on January 15. The hearing stems from a car crash -- also in November -- in Santa Monica. Lohan is accused of giving a police officer false information, among other charges.

(CNN) - Weekend moviegoers were in the mood for a fright. "Texas Chainsaw 3D" debuted at number one. Ticket sales for the horror movie hit $23-million dollars. "Django Unchained", last weekend's runner up, finished in the same spot again this week. The Quentin Tarantino film brought in another $20-million dollars and pushed its domestic haul to over $106-million dollars. After three weeks at number one, "The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey" slipped to number three, taking in $17.5 million dollars.

(CBS) - The producers of the Oscars-- which will be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood have announced a new addition to the show. They'll pay tribute to James Bond to celebrate the franchise's 50th anniversary. The announcement fueled speculation that the newest 007 film "Skyfall" may get a Best Picture nod from the Academy. Nominations will be announced this week.
