TYLER (KYTX) - During the city manager update at the Tyler City Council Meeting today, City Manager Mark McDaniel announced several organizational changes including the appointment of a new chief financial officer, assistant city manager and manager for the Solid Waste and Vehicle Services Departments.
Keidric Trimble has been appointed chief financial officer (CFO). The position was vacant after the retirement of Daniel Crawford in May 2012; Trimble has been serving as acting CFO since Crawford's retirement. He has 15 years of experience in finance with 13 years of service for the City of Tyler. Trimble began his career with the City of Tyler as an accountant in 1999. In 2005 he was promoted to internal auditor. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at the University of Texas at Tyler. He is also a Certified Government Finance Officer.
Susan Guthrie has been appointed assistant city manager. Guthrie has worked for the City of Tyler for five years, most recently as the managing director of external relations. In that role she oversaw operations for the Communications Department, Main Street Department, City University, Liberty Hall and the Lean Sigma Program. She previously held leadership roles working for the University of Arizona, the City of Mesa, Arizona and ASI (General Electric). Guthrie is a graduate of Arizona State University and is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at the University of Texas at Tyler. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School Senior Executives in Local Government program.
Russ Jackson has been appointed manager of the Solid Waste and Vehicle Services Departments due to the impending retirement of Dan Brotton. Jackson has been with the City of Tyler since 1986 when he began working for the Police Department communications group. He went on to become a supervisor until 1996 when he transferred to the Vehicle Services Department. In 2005 he was appointed fleet manager where he has served for the last seven years.
"It is a pleasure to make these announcements today," said Mark McDaniel. "The fact that we are able to promote from within for these leadership positions is a testimony to the tremendous pool of talent represented by our City of Tyler employees.
