Health Alert: Twitter helps with weight loss

(CBS) - Twitter can help you lose weight according to a new study from the University of South Carolina. Researchers followed nearly a hundred people who were trying to lose weight, some were connected via twitter, and some not. The twitter group received informational tweets from a weight loss counselor. They also tweeted between each other with weight loss updates and support for one another. While both groups lost weight, the group that used twitter lost more.


 

(CBS) - Smoking is one of the most common causes of bladder cancer, and now researchers say the higher the number of packs a person smokes, the deadlier the cancer. The American Cancer Society published a study that examined the bladder tumors of more 200 patients who died. Researchers found more aggressive cancers in heavy smokers than those who smoked less or didn't smoke at all.


 

(CBS) - Toddlers who get vaccinations for Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis in their thigh muscles are less likely to wind up back in the doctor's office with vaccination side effects. The most common side effect is a reaction at the injection site. A new study in the journal Pediatrics looked at about one and a half million children and found toddlers were half as likely to be brought back for medical attention if they had a shot in their leg compared to those who received one in their arm.
