Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - About $12,000 in damage was caused in a residential structure fire discovered Sunday morning by a newspaper delivery person, according to Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary.

Longview fire crews responded to the fire at 414 Pearl Street, after a Longview News-Journal delivery person saw the fire and called authorities, Zackary said.

"On arrival the fire, which started in the front bedroom had entered the attic area," Zackary said in a press release. "The fire did heat and smoke damage throughout the structure adding to the approximately $40,000 in damage."

No one was injured or displaced by the fire, but the home was not insured. The fire originated from the bedroom and remains under investigation, Zackary said.
