TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH (KYTX) - The murder trial of a 68-year-old Whitehouse man begins tomorrow in Tyler.

Larry Joe Smith is accused of the shooting to death 57-year-old Sandra Greenshaw outside his home on County Road 2171 last march.

Here with the update is a Danny Mogle from our news partners at the Tyler paper.

Danny we understand that Smith originally reported that his home was being broken into.

A sheriff's spokesman told us that when Smith originally called authorities, he told them that he had heard someone break a window.

He said that he believed someone was trying to break into house and for that reason he fired a shot through the window.

When deputies arrived they found Ms. Greenshaw on the front porch. She had been shot once and later died from the injury.

When did deputies file murder charges against Smith?

Deputies said they became suspicious because evidence at the scene did not match his story.

For instance, although he said he didn't know who the woman was, deputies discovered that they were acquaintances and that her and shoes were found inside his house.

To find out more about Greenshaw's death, see the story in Tuesday's Tyler paper.
