More than 120 doctors establish Good Shepherd Medical Associates

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - This afternoon, Good Shepherd Health System officials announced the formation of Good Shepherd Medical Associates, a new multi-specialty group of physicians and mid-level providers with offices more than a dozen East Texas communities.

"We wanted our name to reflect the reputation of the plan that we uphold," said Longview gastroenteritis Dr. Bill Simpson, chairman of the new group's board of directors, during a press conference at Good Shepherd Medical Associates' clinic at 2101 NW Loop 281 in Longview.

Good Shepherd Medical Associates is comprised of more than 120 physicians and mid-level providers, representing more than 20 specialities and with locations in 13 area communities - including Longview, Marshall, White Oak, Kilgore, Linden, Gladewater, Jefferson, Gilmer, Henderson, Hughes Springs and Lone Star.

Good Shepherd Health System Marketing Director Victoria Ash worth said the group is modeled after a similar multi-specialty group of physicians within Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler.

Cardiologists, gastroenterologist and orthopedic surgeons of Good Shepherd Medical Associates not only see patients in Longview and Marshall but also schedule to see patients in smaller regional communities located throughout East Texas.

"We know patients are more likely to receive needed care if it is made convenient for them," said Ken Cunningham, executive vice president and interim chief executive officer for Good Shepherd Health System. "Our physicians are committed to high quality patient care, and they are dedicated to going the extra mile to provide it to each and every patient.
