Police investigate armed robbery at Tyler Donut

About 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, officers responded to Tyler Donut, located at 508 W. Front St., in Tyler in reference to an aggravated robbery. 

Upon arrival officers contacted an employee who advised that a black male entered the store and produced a handgun demanding the money.  The employee complied with the suspects demands and the suspect fled the scene southbound from the store.  The suspect is described as a black man approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall, 200 pounds wearing dark clothing.  The investigation into this case continues.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to Country Donuts, located at 215 N. Beckham, Tyler, in reference to a theft.  Upon arrival officers contacted an employee who advised that a black man entered the store and grabbed the cash register and ran out of the store with it.  Customers chased the suspect, causing him to drop the cash register, but he was able to enter a vehicle and flee the scene.  The suspect is described as a black man approximately 5-feet 7-inches to 5-feet 10-inches, 195 pounds wearing a gray hoodie.  The suspect left the scene in a tan/cream vehicle.  This case is also still under investigation.

At this time it is unknown if these two cases are connected.
