Entertainment News: Star-studded Inauguration

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - Hollywood had its eyes on President Obama's Inauguration Monday. Kelly Clarkson, James Taylor and Beyonce performed. Jay-Z and Eva Longoria were on the stand while Katy Perry and John Mayer were in the crowd. Some celebrities who weren't in attendance took to Twitter to mark the event. Alicia Keys called it a powerful day, and said "may we all take these powerful strides and continue moving forward." Neil Patrick Harris called the President's speech "brilliant" and said "I'm very proud to be an American." And Bette Midler said Beyonce sang"beautifully."

Bobby Brown is scheduled to go on trial this morning on drunk driving charges. The singer was pulled over last October for a traffic violation, then failed sobriety tests. He also faces a charge of driving without a dashboard breathalyzer. The court ordered the device after Brown pleaded no contest to driving drunk earlier in the year.

"American Idol" alum Danny Gokey is a new dad. The season eight finalist and his wife welcomed a son Sunday, according to People.com. In a statement, he told People, "I'm ecstatic to be a first time dad and to have a new little buddy to hang out with." The boy was named Daniel Emanuel. Gokey and his wife were married on January 29th last year.
