How would you like to move into a home without pet fees, or registration and administration fees. Better yet, how would you like to get paid to move into your new home? Well, that's happening right now on Fort Hood.
Every month 1LT Steven Goodman heads to the Fort Hood Family Housing Maintenance Office to pick up air filters for his home, a home on post where he's lived for the past two years.
"We love it. My wife loves it. It's a really good support structure for the family you know we're good for grilling out two or three times month with the neighbors," he said.
For years soldiers were put on a wait to list to live in Fort Hood housing. But right now, there are about 200 homes available.
"We have two, three, four, and five bedrooms available for all ranks and we would love to have them and stay here on the instillation," said Marvin Williams, Director of Property Management for Fort Hood Family Housing.
One of the amenities to living on post is that you have access to garden tools of lawn mowers, all free for 24 hours.
"When we first came and we didn't have any year equipment yet you know you still have to upkeep your yard, and it was easy to come sign for this rather than go buy your own stuff. It's just convenient," said 1LT Goodman.
And to ease the stress of moving, Fort Hood Family Housing will give soldiers a $250 credit for moving on post.
"The other incentive we offer is if a resident lives here on the instillation and they refer somebody to come and live on post, we will give that resident a $200 check in hand as well," said Williams
And that's good new for first 1LT Goodman, "As soon as I get out of here, I'll be going to tell my platoon about it," he said.
Because we could all use a little free money.
Fort Hood Family Housing has so many available homes because of soldiers getting out of the army, recent deployments, and PCS moves.
