Released by Longview Police Department
UPDATE:
Longview Police arrested and transported Roger Hall 24 of Marshall, to
the Gregg County Jail. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a
Deadly Weapon. He remains in jail on a $250,000.00 bond.
On
January 22, 2013 at 8:36 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the 700 Block
of South Green Street for a shooting just occurred. When Officers
arrived, they were told that one person had been shot inside the laundry
room of the apartment complex. Officers also learned that the suspect,
identified as Roger Hall 24, of Longview, had also run into an
apartment and shot two other people.
Hall and one of the victims
physically fought over the handgun, with the victim wrestling the gun
away from Hall. Hall then pulled out a knife and another physical
confrontation occurred with the same victim. The victim was able to
wrestle the knife away from Hall and stabbed Hall several times prior to
police arriving. Two of the victims and the suspect were transported
to Good Shepherd Medical Center. The third victim was transported by
private vehicle to Good Shepherd. The suspect and one of the victims
remain in the hospital at this time. The case remains under
investigation.
At about 8 Tuesday night Longview Police say a man set fire to this laundry room in the Village South Apartments off of Green Street in Longview.
Investigators say another man came to the laundry room to check on the fire.
The man who started the fire allegedly shot him.
Police say the man ran into one of the apartments and allegedly shot two people inside.

"Eric Cathey is one of those 2 victims --- he did not want his face on camera --- but he says the man entered his apartment and shot his fiance in the back and him in the face-- but he was able to fight back. " Kevin Boyce
"I took him down, took the gun from him... he pulled out a knife and I took it from him and I defended myself with his knife" - CATHEY
Cathey says he stabbed the man multiple times.
The man is still in the hospital along with one of the shooting victims.
"A victim and the suspect are still in the hospital at this time. We have not been able to talk to them... once they are able to talk we will interview them" - Longview Police, Kristie Brian
For Cathey, He is just glad he was there.
"It was either me or him. And my kids were there, I wasn't going to let anything happen." - Cathey
