19-year-old charged with burglary after found in stolen vehicle in Commerce

Posted: Updated:

COMMERCE — A home burglary was cleared and an out-of-town stolen vehicle was recovered after officers arrested a Commerce resident.

Just before 4 p.m., Jan. 17, Commerce officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Caddo in reference to a home burglary. Upon arrival and while still getting details, officers were given information on a suspicious vehicle that had been seen in the area. A possible identification of the suspect was also given at that time and officers determined that the vehicle had been reported out of Grand Prairie.

Officers found the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the McDonalds restaurant. Officers found 19-year-old Commerce resident, Quincy Lamont Terrell playing with what was later determined to be a stolen I-Pad taken from the burglary on Caddo Street. All of the property except for the cash taken at the burglary was recovered out of the stolen vehicle. Terrell was arrested for the stolen vehicle and was brought to the Commerce Police Department where during interviews with Commerce Detectives, Terrell admitted to burglarizing several vehicles at Churchill Apartments on Jan. 12. He also admitted to stealing a vehicle from the parking lot and taking it to Dallas where he wrecked the car and fled the scene. In addition, Terrell has also admitted to burglarizing an apartment in Grand Prairie and stealing the car from there.

The Commerce Police Department is working with Grand Prairie Police Department on attempting to recover all of the stolen items taken from that burglary. Terrell was transported and booked into the Hunt County Jail on a theft of more than $20,000 and less than $100,000. He is currently incarcerated there being held on a $75,000 bond. Detectives with the Commerce Police Department expect additional charges will be filed by both Commerce and Grand Prairie Police Departments.
