First Kilgore College Softball Game, Ever

On January 30th, softball starts for the first time ever at Kilgore College. The sport may be new to the Rangers but the experienced athletes aren't. The team is sophomore heavy with 11 of them leading six freshman.

A number of the second year players transferred from Texarkana college, following head coach Leslie Messina. The Bulldogs canceled their athletic program last year and with the start of softball in Kilgore, coach Messina got hired, bringing some of her former players with her.

The Longview Lobos take their show on the road in 2013 with only play 4 games at Lobo Stadium. Two games will be played at mutual sites, one at Eagle Stadium in Allen and the other, across state lines at Shreveport's Independence Stadium.

Longview's season opener is against Coppell on August 31st at the $65-million stadium in Allen. The Lobos host Lufkin, Mesquite, Mesquite Horn and Robert E. Lee.
