TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A man is in custody after attempting to flee from an officer at Outlaws club Saturday night.

Sheriff Larry Smith said the incident happened late Saturday when an off-duty deputy constable for Precinct 1 constable's office escorted Ricky Bruno, 20, of Tyler, from the club.

Smith said Bruno attempted to flee from the officer, and the incident resulted in the officer firing at least two shots at Bruno's car, and it crashing into a ditch at the club.

He said he could not comment on the specific details of the incident between the officer and Bruno as they are part of the constable office's investigation.

The sheriff's office will investigate the shots fired, he said. The department has the vehicle and plans to begin testing on Monday.

Bruno was charged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. As of Sunday evening, his bonds had not been set and he remained in jail.
