Severe storms including damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, hail expected Tuesday
EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Unseasonably warm temperatures and abundant
moisture are setting up the ArkLaTex for a severe weather event Tuesday
afternoon and Tuesday evening.
All of East Texas is within a slight risk area
for severe storms including damaging straight line winds, isolated tornadoes and
hail. Northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas have been upgraded to a moderate
risk for severe storms.
A strong cold front will be moving out of the Rockies
and into the Plains tonight. It will approach our area late Tuesday afternoon
and move across the ArkLaTex Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday
With highs expected to be in the mid to upper 70s Tuesday, the
atmosphere will become very unstable making strong to severe storms likely. Once
the front passes by, the threat of severe weather will end; and we can expect
sunny to mostly sunny and cooler conditions from Wednesday through the weekend.
No freezing temperatures are expected at this time with the chilliest
temperatures in the mid 30s Thursday and Friday mornings. Highs will be in the
60s from Wednesday through Monday.
