HOUSTON (KHOU) -- Kathryn Camille Murray may have spent her last days as a free woman for quite some time.

"It's just taking advantage of vulnerable people and we're here to stop that," said Sara Marie Kinney, a spokesperson for the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

The crime the Harris County District Attorney's Office is trying to stop is the alleged sexual relationship between the former Memorial Middle School teacher and the teenage boy she used to teach.

"If we can step in and protect the victim from years and years of abuse, it's our job to do so," said Kinney.

Murray was first arrested and charged last February. The alleged sexual encounters occurred in her classroom, at the victim's home and in a local hotel. Murray's bond was set at a $250,000. She posted it and the parents of the victim expressed their outrage.

"People like this should not be walking the streets, should not be close to our children," said the victim's mother.

After this weekend, those worries may have grown stronger. On Friday, authorities say the victim who is now 16 years old, ran away from his parent's house. Police later found him at Murray's home.

On Monday, a judge revoked Murray's bond -- a development the victim's parents called "long overdue."
