UPDATE: Man Killed in Temple Auto-Pedestrian Accident Identified

UPDATE (KCEN) -- The man who was hit and killed by a pickup truck on 31st Street in Temple last night has now been identified.

Police say Temple resident Douglas Robert Will, 55, was walking across the road from west to east when a dark colored 2004 Ford pickup truck that was traveling northbound struck him.

The accident happened around 8:40 p.m. in the 4800 block of South 31st Street.  

Officers say Will appeared to have walked directly in front of the truck and the front right side of the vehicle struck him.

The victim was thrown about 70 feet from the pickup.  

The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately, called 9-1-1 and initiated first aid on Will.

Temple Fire and Rescue arrived and took over life-saving efforts, assisted by Scott & White EMS.  

Attempts to save the victim were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to Scott & White for evaluation and has not been charged with a crime.

 Investigation into the accident continue.

(KCEN) -- One person was killed, Thursday night, in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in Temple.

Police said that a dark blue pick-up truck hit a person on South 31st street in front of the Dollar General.

The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.               

No word yet on whether the driver was injured.
