Parkland offers HIV testing, education at community events

Parkland Health & Hospital System's HIV Services staff will offer free testing and education at two upcoming community events.

In partnership with the STD Collaborative Taskforce, Parkland staff will provide free rapid HIV testing (results available in 20 minutes) from 12 to 4 p.m. and educational information from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8 at Valley View Mall, 13331 Preston Road. Other screenings and information will be available from other community agencies as well.

In addition, Parkland's HIV Services staff will join Abounding Prosperity and other local agencies for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Together, Parkland and other groups will offer HIV education and rapid HIV testing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, at 2311 Martin L. King Blvd.

Both events are free and open to the public.
