TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH (KYTX) -

The trial of a Tyler man accused of repeatedly raping a young girl begins today in Tyler.

33-year-old Cesar Gomez of Tyler is charged with sexual abuse of a child.

Danny Mogle from our news partners at the Tyler paper has more.

Danny we understand the alleged victim took the stand.

The girl, who is now 15, testified that Gomez – who is related to her -- began having sex with her when she was only in the second grade and continued to do so for about seven years.

She testified that he threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone.

Did she talk about the alleged abuse?

When asked about it, she became very emotional on the stand and broke down.

She was eventually able to use drawing to illustrate what she says happened to her.

The jury was also shown a tape of police questioning Gomez.

In this video Gomez admitted at that time to having sex with the girl. On the tape he is heard saying he only did it when he got drunk.

The trial picks up tomorrow morning.

The prosecution will continue presenting its case.

Look for Dayna Worchel's story in tomorrow's paper.
