Web Exclusive: Stars taking on gun control

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - The gun control movement is adding some star power.

"I am just here to support the President of the United States. The President of the United States is, you know, our boss," said Chris Rock.  "Assault weapons were invented for war.  They shouldn't be on our streets," added Tony Bennett.

Tony Bennett, Chris Rock, Amanda Peet and Adam Scott spoke out at an event in Washington Wednesday.  It was sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Other speakers included a victim of the shooting in Aurora, Colorado and Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy.

Rihanna accompanied Chris brown to his probation hearing in Los Angeles Wednesday.  Prosecutors are accusing the R&B star of failing to fulfill his community service requirements stemming from his 2009 sentence for assaulting Rihanna.  The two dated in the past, and have been seen spending time together recently.  The judge said he needs more time to review the evidence, and ordered Brown to meet with his probation officer in the next 48 hours. The next hearing is set for April 5th, when the judge says he'll schedule a probation violation hearing.

Courtney Cox and Matthew Perry will soon be reunited on screen. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cox is set to guest star on an episode of Perry's comedy "Go On."  Their characters will reportedly be set up on a date. The episode is set to air in April.

Beyonce's smokin Super Bowl half-time show may not have caused the electrical meltdown at the Superdome, but it did set her record sales ablaze.  According to Billboard, sales for Beyonce's catalog of albums, were up 197 percent compared to the week before her Super Bowl performance.
